Our 4th year Biology class represented our school at the all-Ireland finals of the Young Environmentalist Awards at the Mansion House. The event was opened by the Lord Mayor of Dublin and the guest speaker was the Minister of Children, Charlie Flanagan, (No relation to our principal!). All the projects present had already gone through a rigorous selection process so the standard was very high. We were in the senior biodiversity section and our project was entitled “There is more to plants than meets the eye” which looked at the medicinal and culinary uses of plants from our local area. The students who worked on this since September were Kevin Sorohan, Michele Farrell, Cathy O’Reilly, Nicole Bergin, Robert Berzabinds and Michael Cox. Their project was chosen to be displayed at the Eco-Unesco headquarters over the summer. Well done guys!
