Assembly 29 1 21
Hard to believe we are at the end of the month already. Somebody said recently that the weeks are flying by but they find that each day seems to last forever! Online school is hard work. So it’s great to be at the weekend again. Turn away from the screen and look outside and you will notice a stretch in the evenings. Rest your mind and exercise your body. Enjoy!
Now a few notices.
Speaking of minding yourself, we are using some of our classes in different ways so that you have less screen time and more wellbeing time.
i)We have increased the lunch break from Mondays-Thursdays from 30 to 40 minutes.
ii)We have asked that students get the last 5 minutes off at the end of each class so they won’t be under pressure.
iii)We have also proposed that homework be at a minimum for junior non exam classes.
We are constantly looking at ways of improving the way we do school online. Working together we can explore new possibilities and approaches which will make this a better experience for everybody involved. One way in which you can help this to happen is by giving your full attention to your teachers and following their instructions when they are trying out something new in class. Another way is come up with ideas like the Student council does and lead the change you want to see happen in your school. Or you can simply fill out the surveys and tell us what you think would work to make online school better for you. Most important of all is to be here when it all happens…attendance is vital.
There are still Hec and Geo exam papers to be collected from school. Also materials for Art and A3 sheets of paper for Tgr are there in the front hall and available from 9-1 every day. Also calculators can be purchased and are available from the Office.
Some innovative ideas coming through from teachers and students which will be interesting to follow over the coming weeks. These ideas will work if we engage with our teachers and get involved ourselves. Let’s do things differently, take a chance at something new, get stuck in and make it happen!
Meeting of the Chess club today at from 1.30-2pm. Anybody who would like to find out what it’s all about just email email@example.com and we will join you to the meeting.
And now we take a moment to read the reflection that Ms Keenan has found for us today.
Finish every day and be done with it.
You have done what you could.
Some blunders and absurdities
no doubt have crept in;
forget them as soon as you can.
Tomorrow is a new day;
begin it well and serenely
and with too high a spirit
to be cumbered with
your old nonsense.
This day is all that is
good and fair.
It is too dear,
with its hopes and invitations,
to waste a moment on yesterdays
