LCC School Notes
We would like to welcome to our school the two Deis inspectors who are going to be around our school for the next two weeks. They have already visited several classes, and will be examining our TY classes after the TYs’ return from work experience. The inspectors seem to be pleased with the work so far. Keep up the good work everyone!
1st Year Trip to Connemara
The 1st Years would like to thank Ms. O’Brien and Mr. Tannian for bringing them on a very enjoyable trip to Connemara National Park in Co. Galway. Students went hiking around the beautiful Connemara coastline, and learned about the various types of flora and fauna you can see in the area. Afterwards they went to the parks museum where they saw preserved examples of some of the animals in the area. A great day had by all.
A reminder to all students to keep their Buzz articles ‘buzzing’ in to Mr. Lyons! This years Easter edition is looking very ‘egg-citing’!
Make a Book
Thanks to Ms. Higgins and Mr. Concannon who prepared our 1st Years for this years Make a Book competition in Sligo. Our participating students did very well. Afterwards, they visited the Quayside Shopping Centre for some lunch. To finish off the trip, everyone stopped off at Strand Hill to try and take in some sun! A very memorable day.
TY Work Experience
Wishing the best of luck to all our TYs’ who are off on their second round of work experience this week. With jobs ranging from archivists to farmhands, there is a wide selection of experience being gained! We would like to thank all the local business people who take our schools students on for work experience every year. It couldn’t be done without you. We would also like to thank Ms. O’Brien for helping students to organise their work placements.
Lá Na Gaeilge
Our schools ‘Lá na Gaeilge’ was ‘go hiontach. Thanks to the schools TYs’ and Ms. O’Brien who taught the 1st Years how to dance ‘The Siege of Ennis’. Thanks to Mr. Tannian who organised a ‘Tráth na gCeist’ for our 1st Years. Finally thanks to Mr. Flanagan for coming to play with his band at the school. Everyone had a great time!
St. Patricks Day
Thanking all students who took part in this year’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Despite the bad weather, there was still a good turnout. We would also like to thank Ms. O’Brien, our HSCL Officer Ms. O’Brien, Ms. Dalton, Mr. Donnelly, Mr. Lyons and our school secretary Breda for helping supervise and organise all the students on the day. Happy St. Patrick’s Day everyone!
