It’s the 25 of March today. Nearly 1600 years ago on this date the renowned Italian city of Venice was founded. In 1669, again in Italy, the volcano, Mount Etna erupted, killing thousands. The 25th of March 1807, marks the date, when the slave trade was abolished, and on this day, 63 years ago the European Common market was born. We remember these dates because the events that occurred were life changing, special, memorable.
We are living in a memorable time. People will look back at this time and tell stories about it to their children and grandchildren. How do you want to remember this time? A time, in which you did your best to mind and help each other even though it was difficult. A time when you were asked to put others needs before your own and you rose up to the challenge. A time when did yourself and your family proud. You can make this a good day to remember. It’s in your hands…
Now for our assembly I would like to bring a couple of matters to your attention.
1)I would like to compliment the students who are engaging with their teachers and working so hard You are a credit to your school and you deserve a bit of praise. Keep up the hard work and well done!
2) A reminder that most parents now have access to VS Ware which means they will know whether or not you are engaging with your teachers. Over the coming days we will be explaining to our parents how to use VS Ware to support their children (that’s you lot!) in online school by monitoring your attendance. Our goal is to ensure that every single student is engaging with their teachers. And we expect you all to do so…simple as that.
3) Please remember to use you school journals to continue to record your homework and classwork. Journals will be checked, beginning next week. Details of how we will carry out this inspection will be sent directly to your school emails. Remember your journal is your passport to success!
4) We will be inviting the Student Council to a meeting on Thursday the 26th of March from 11.15-11.30. We will be using Microsoft Teams to host the meeting and we expect all class reps to join the meeting. A full report will follow.
5)The school website: www.Lanesborocc.com will carry this assembly for your parents to access from now on and further details of items that will be carried on the website and school Facebook page will be announced later on this week.
Finally, Ms Reynolds Fun Run continues and is open to all. Other events and activities are been organised…. Watch this space! Oh and talking about space…remember to… KEEP YOUR DISTANCE!
