Our 1st years have being very busy over the past 3 months working on different projects in association with the Tidy towns committees of Ballyleauge and Lanesboro. This week we carried out a Chewing gum survey of three sites in Lanesboro. Ryan Corcoran, Caitlin Kelly and Keina Mason armed with clipboard and camera spent a morning counting every piece of chewing gum on the paths and then sent on a report to the Lanesboro Tidy towns committee with their results. Another group of students ( P J Connaughton, John Cullen and Philip Walsh) are working on a report which highlights peoples attitudes to litter and recycling in the area and Oran Walton and Kasper Kumorek are compiling the data the 1st years gathered over the 7 week litter survey carried out for the Ballyleague Village Renewal committee. These students are performing a civic task which is both important and vital and show yet again the commitment our school has to their own community.
Thanks to the respective Tidy Towns committees for giving this opportunity to get involved and of course to the teachers, especially Ms Higgins and our SNA, Carol Duffy, for all their help and encouragement.
Well done to you all.
