Lanesboro Community College Student Wins 1st place in Senior Biological and Ecological category at BT Young Scientist 2021

Edited by Michael Lyons

Well done to Orla Lyons for winning 1st place in the Senior Biological and Ecological category of the BT Young Scientist Exhibition 2021

Her project was entitled; Rising from the ashes: A survey of plants in my local bogs which have been identified as having medicinal properties.

This project is not only an important survey of the presence and quantity of medicinal plants but also an opportune study of ways in which our community can find alternative and innovative ways of using our natural resources.

The whole school community extends heartfelt congratulations to Orla and her teacher for continuing Lanesboro Community College’s proud tradition of scientific excellence and achievement in STEM.

Further details of the project will be available shortly online and we look forward to continued STEM opportunities and success for our students at the upcoming SciFest@College for all our students.
