There is a lot of information being fired at us at the moment. Forms to be filled, documents to be read, data to be examined. Everybody is giving advice and telling us what we have to do, when and how we have to do it. It can be a bit disconcerting.

At times like this it is important to pull back. The think and reflect. To ask advice from those who have experience and can be trusted. When you have done that… then you can make your decision with a calm head and good advice under your belt.

We will be speaking to the Leaving certificate class today at our usual Q&A session from 11.15-11.30. Take that opportunity to get some advice from those who have the most experience in this area and who want to help you get the best possible leaving cert that you deserve.

Now for a few notices.

  • Please note that the next review date for exams classes, 3rd and 6th, is on the 22nd of March. It is vital that you work diligently with your teachers and participate in all class activities so that you can improve your grade for the second of the four planned review dates.
  • Junior Certificate students please remember to send a photo of your signed journal as usual today.
  • Return to school for the Leaving Certificate students on Monday. A reminder that any 6th year student that is planning to return to school must complete and return the Back to School form today. Just click on the link below.

  • The advice from the HSE is very clear. We must be extra vigilant on our return to school. Masks must be worn at all times when in the company of others. Social distancing must be adhered to and particular care must be taken around hand hygiene and cleaning of surfaces. We are really looking forward to our Leaving Certificate students returning to school but we must do it safely, for everybody’s sake.

Now we take a moment to read the reflection given to us by Ms Keenan this morning.

Faith In Myself

God gave me faith in myself,

not only on days when I’m going great and winning

and nothing seems impossible

but on days when the whole world looks lousy

and I’m losing and the road ahead seems too hard.

When I wonder if I’m brave enough, smart enough

and I must be crazy to try,

don’t let me quit Lord, not ever.

Let me keep the faith in myself.

No matter how many people

discourage me…

doubt me…

laugh at me…

warn me…

think me a fool…

Don’t let me listen.

Let me hear another voice telling me,

“You can do it and you will!”

If nobody else in this world gives a darn or believes in me,

let me believe in myself.

I know there’ll be times when I will doubt my own abilities,

when I’ll be discouraged and on the verge of despair,

don’t let me give up,

hang onto me.

Fan the fires so that I’ll try even harder.

Give me more faith in myself.

Dear Lord, you are the source of life and power.

You are the source of my abilities and my faith.

Thank you for reinforcements.

I know that you will give me for what I ask…

Faith in myself
